Best iPhone Poker Apps and Games
Apple has only just allowed real money gambling apps inside its iTunes ‘App Store’, which goes a long way to explaining why so far there have been fewer apps available than for Android phones. However, three poker sites now have their games in the App Store and others have browser based alternatives:

Texas Holdem for iPhone
There are so many free money games in the App Store that it can be hard to find the real money Texas Holdem iPhone apps to download. An easier alternative is to head to the online poker room’s website and download directly. For the browser based games this is the only way to play.
All six iPhone poker apps above offer Texas Holdem ring games.
iPod Touch Poker
A few of the iPhone poker providers say their apps will work on iPods as well as iPhones. We haven’t tested this but it makes sense. First, second and third generation iPods have the same screen resolution as an iPod 3GS. The iPod Touch 2G supports platforms up to iOS 4.2.1, which should be more than enough to play most iPod Touch poker apps.
iPod Touch 3G and 4G support even later operating systems, should any new iPhone poker apps require more up-to-date platforms. Playing poker on iPod Touch fourth generation devices (together with the iPhone 4) is by far the richest experience – their 960 x 640px screens will mean it’s less of a struggle to do fiddly things like raising and switching tables (e.g. in the PokerStars iPhone app).
What players are saying…
It’s interesting to note that while the PokerStars Android app states that a screen resolution of 400×800 or more is required the iPhone version claims to work on third generation devices that only have screen resolutions of 480 × 320px.
Poker for iPad
Most real money poker apps for iPhone will also work on iPads. However, some web apps do not make use of the full screen, instead appearing as a small window within the larger screen. The best iPad poker apps are optimised for the 1024 x 768 screen resolution.
Another thing to bear in mind when playing poker on iPad is whether your tablet has 3G as well as Wi-Fi – don’t start wandering around too far from your Wi-Fi signal in the middle of a big hand if your iPad is not 3G enabled.
In fact, it’s probably good advice in general not to go wandering around too much mid game, whether you’re playing poker on an iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch or any hand-held device. It just ain’t good to get too distracted!
